Here’s an interesting thought – what one piece of knowledge or skill do you most need to take your writing to the next level? As Christians who write for children and young people, it’s not enough to know we are called to write – we need to make sure we are doing the very best we can.
What is the one thing that is holding you back more than anything else? Could it be something to do with the craft of writing, some research you need to do, or perhaps brush up on how to use a software programme?
Have a think, write it down, then commit to filling that gap in your knowledge or skill. You might be able to think of more than one thing – if you can, pick the one thing that will be most helpful right now. One thing is enough to deal with at a time!
It may not be an easy thing – we often put off the difficult tasks in life and stick to the activities we are comfortable with. But sometimes we just have to take a deep breath and get out of the boat!
Success isn’t a sudden event – it’s the breakthrough after a lot of small steps in the right direction – by taking this one step you will be moving towards success in your writing.
Be the wise steward in the parable of the talents, who made his talent work hard!
So now it’s over to you . . . write down what you are going to do in the box below – if you put it in writing in the public arena you are much more likely to do it!
