Happy New Year! May 2025 be a year full of blessings, even if they sometimes come disguised as trials! 🙂
Last week we had a look at what we felt we have achieved with our writing; now it’s time to look at what lies ahead.
Last year is over now, but this year is new and waiting for us to grab the time and get our stories done.
To make the most of our time, we need to make a plan.
So, here are three steps you could take, to make sure you make the most of your writing time this year:
1. Set times aside in your calendar for your writing (and don’t cheat!). Scheduling is the absolute best way to get anything done in life, including your writing.
2. Pray about your writing, and ask others to pray with you. “More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.” – Alfred Tennyson
3. Read lots of books! Reading will help you see what you need to see. You will be inspired, encouraged, and pick up so much information as you go.
4. Decide what you want to achieve this year. The first draft finished? Chapters 1-10 edited? It’s time to make a realistic goal, and get accountability.
5. Set smaller goals along the way, and celebrate each one. Finished a chapter? Celebrate! Written a chapter synopsis? Celebrate! This is an important step, as it tells your brain that this is something to do that is worth celebrating….and IT IS!
Trust that helps you get loads of writing done this year, accomplish your goals, and get your book out into the world and into young readers’ hands.
Remember, no one else can write your story but you, and if you have been called to write, someone is waiting for it.
Until next time,
Janet
