Writers Are Readers – But What To Read?

Hello, and welcome to the latest Write for a Reason writing tip.

Here’s an idea:

You know you have to keep reading, if you want to write well?

How about this summer, reading at least one book from the following categories?

  1. A classic novel
  2. A current bestseller
  3. A Christian fiction book
  4. A science fiction novel
  5. A book for girls
  6. A book for boys
  7. A detective story
  8. A story set in another culture
  9. A dystopian fiction novel
  10. A fantasy novel

I suggest books your own target audience will be reading, if possible, as this will help you soak in their world…

What do you think? Some of these categories may overlap, of course!

If you have any suggestions of books you’d recommend for other writers-for-a-reason, send them to me and I’ll be happy to pass them on.

If you’d like to read any of my books, check out Year 0033, The Treasure Hunt, Mystery in the Snow, Suspicious Deliveries, Revenge of the Flying Carpet and London’s Gone.

Find them on the Dernier Publishing website, or Amazon, or your favourite bookstore. Most are on kindle, so if you want a cheap read, there’s your chance right there!

Enjoy!

Every blessing,

Janet
