Dear Writers for a Reason,
You know how sometimes writing can get really difficult, once you get over the initial enthusiasm of a story you have begun?
I know it’s easier said than done, but try not to get overwhelmed or discouraged. Know that this is normal, and just take the next small step.
Struggling with the plot? Write a synopsis. The book in a sentence or two will help you to get a grip on where you’re going, and why.
Struggling with a character? Write a character profile. Give yourself ten minutes, and write as much about them as you can think of.
Wondering how it’s all going to end? Write the ending. Writing the final paragraphs will help enormously, as you work on the rest!
Wondering why you’re bothering? Write a letter to your One Reader*, letting them know that the story you are writing for them is on the way!
*The person you are writing the book for. (More in the Write for a Reason Academy!)
Any of these things can help you to move forward.
Hope that helps,
Janet
P.S. Remember the Write for Life competition?

The results are now in!
You can read all the winning stories on the Dernier Publishing facebook page.
It was such a joy to read all the stories that were sent in. I could tell you all about them, but it would be better for you to read them for yourself!
Do go over and have a read, and leave comments (which I hope parents will pass on to the writers, to encourage them).
It’s very interesting to see what the children are interested in. Definitely worth a look from a writer’s point of view. 🙂
