Description Fun #4

Hello my writer friends.

It’s great to hear how much fun you’re having with these description exercises that we’ve been doing this month. You know how children learn about life through play? Well I guess we do, too!

This week I’d like to take you far away… to the most delightful place you can possible imagine. This one is for you to dream up. Your paradise place.

Take 10 minutes or so, and freewrite your description of your paradise place. What does the place look like? Are you inside, or outside? What does your paradise look like, feel like, smell like? What about colour? Do you have a home there, or are you just visiting? Are there flowers and trees, or rocks and snow? What do there, eat there, enjoy there? Who are you with?

Go deep – what does the sand like feel under your feet? What noise is the ocean making? Is there the smell of salty sea in the air? Or maybe you’re in a forest and you have a talking squirrel riding on your shoulder, and have rabbits sharing your picnic!

This one is to make you smile. And to get your imagination running away from reality, to creativity. Kids love this kind of stuff, so you never know, you might even get to be able to use it in a story one day!

Send me the description of your paradise; I look forward to reading them.

Have fun,

Janet
