Someone asked me recently, what books would you recommend teens to read? I know this isn’t exactly a writing question, but bear with me.
My answer was, what are they interested in? Do they love fiction, or non-fiction? Do they love space fantasies, or dystopian fiction? Do they love reading about volcanos, or tigers, or deep sea adventures? Do they love dancing, music, art, science, drama, history… the possibilities are endless!

Whatever they love, get them books that will feed on that interest, that are written from a Christian perspective. Perhaps that will get them away from their phones for a while!
And if they love the book, they won’t just read it once, they are likely to read it over and over again.
If you buy them a book you think they ought to read… well, it will probably be a waste of your money! But if you can tap into their interests, you are much more likely to be on to a winner.
So how do you know what they are interested in? Spend time with them. Talk to them. Find out.
All this information will help you with your own writing, too!
See you again next week,
Janet
P.S. We have some lovely books on the Dernier Publishing list. Check them out here.
