Keep a journal to hand
Just in case you’re new here (a very warm welcome to you if you are!), we are currently working through a list of quick tips I sent out in the summer, in a little more detail. I hope you are finding them useful. 🙂
This week’s writing tip is such an important tip!
Keeping a journal or notebook to hand is such a brilliant way to jot down ideas as they come to you.
It might be a snatch of dialogue you hear, a person you see in a coffee shop who would make the perfect villain for your story, or a few words from a sermon that resonate with you.
Write down everything that comes to you – colours, ambience, smells, sounds… the expression on someone’s face, the way people interact, the background…

All these things can be excellent food for your story, to bring it to life.
So treat yourself to a notebook and keep it in your bag or purse, or even your pocket… or an app on your phone would do it.
Does this resonate with you? Do you already use a journal? Let me know if you do, and what you use it for – I always love to hear from you!
Blessings on your day,
Janet
